Licence To Kill (1989)

Licence…the only acceptable British English word

As an American, I generally prefer the colour of my English without the British spelling. My normal behaviour when encountering British spelling puts a terrible flavour in my mouth, but I don’t harbour any ill-will towards the words. I apologise, but my mind simply doesn’t recognise them as their original words, but more like misspelled words. Please realise that this post is a labour of love, which I’m trying to steer you, my fellow neighbour Bond fan, towards humour, but I can’t guarantee it will result in splendour.

There is, however, exactly one British spelling of an English word I will consider using: licence. That’s because Licence To Kill is so awesome that I can now only see that word as it’s spelled in the movie title. No offence!

American Austin Butler also put himself out of the running for becoming the next actor to portray James Bond for the same reason as Glen Powell – he’s American!  Yes!  I love to hear these actors shoot down pointless rumors and show the James Bond character some respect.  I’m sure they wouldn’t mind being casted…

Respect to Glen Powell for saying this in interviews – essentially shutting down conversation about him getting cast as the next James Bond actor.  An American James Bond actor just wouldn’t work!
