If all else failed, cyanide pills

Although Rosie Carver proves to be more liability than asset, she deserves credit for taking Felix Leiter’s advice to heart when he warns that Bond will eventually make a move. Rather than acting offended, she fires back with the above perfectly timed line to shut down Bond’s advances.

It really is the perfect rejection of James Bond. Mix a little humor and a warning from a third party, and Bond’s pursuit quickly crumbles. That’s not to say future romantic encounters will go the same way, which is true with Rosie, who ends up not putting up much of a fight later when she gives in and beds Bond in the jungle of all places.

In the end, Bond’s persistence pays off, and he normally gets what he wants. Though I do wonder if he had a few choice words for Felix after learning he was the source of Rosie’s resistance.

I actually enjoyed her in White Lotus and Euphoria, but I don’t think she’d be right for a Bond movie.  Plus she’s too famous – the same way I feel about how a relative unknown should be cast as the next James Bond.
