Made you feel it, did he?

In Casino Royale, Dryden’s taunt cuts straight to the nerve of James Bond’s early days at MI6. The brief flashback of Fisher, Bond’s first kill, adds just enough texture to suggest a larger world without slowing momentum. One could argue that another ten minutes with Dryden and his network might have been an intriguing addition to the movie, but it would’ve risked diluting or overcomplicating the compelling the pre-title sequence. Bond’s second kill is in fact Dryden, and kicks off the movie and his duties as an official MI6 00 agent with a literal bang. Bravo!

Few endings of any Bond movie are as gleefully absurd as the closing moments of For Your Eyes Only, where James Bond casually abandons a congratulatory phone call with the Prime Minister and a flirtatious parrot steals the scene. It’s the sort of cheeky flourish that defined the Roger Moore era with equal parts charm…

The possibilities here are endless.  Plus it takes care of the whole “Bond dies” thing from the last movie.  It’d solve a lot of problems from NTTD and would be an amazing clean slate!
