According to Variety, Jeff Bezos is reportedly advocating for Sydney Sweeney to be cast as the next Bond girl. While Sweeney is undeniably talented and possesses the quintessential Bond aesthetic, her level of fame is my biggest concern. A rising or lesser-known actor taking on the mantle of James Bond could easily be overshadowed by her casting, which is something the producers will need to weigh carefully. Beyond their aesthetics, what truly defines a great Bond/girl pairing is chemistry. Sweeney has proven range, but in this case, I’d be more intrigued by someone whose presence complements Bond rather than competes with him.
