Aside from the Call Me Bwana billboard in From Russia With Love (coincidentally one of two non-Bond EON produced movies), I think The Man With The Golden Gun is the only other Bond movie to reference another movie, The World of Suzie Wong, albeit with the spoken word.

M brings it up after James Bond is “caught” by Lieutenant Hip and Hong Kong police and delivered to MI6’s makeshift, sideways-oriented floating headquarters. M chides Bond for conducting his investigation into Scaramanga, telling him, “In the future, Commander Bond, if you must tour the world of Suzie Wong by night, kindly inform our man here, Lieutenant Hip.” It’s certainly a very M-like barb, although I have to admit the reference feels rather dated, considering The World of Suzie Wong (1960) was released 14 years before The Man With The Golden Gun (1974). For what it’s worth, the movie referenced is actually set in Hong Kong, but that’s seemingly the end of any similarities to The Man With The Golden Gun. It’s a movie about an American ex-pat who falls in love with a Hong Kong prostitute, not exactly similar to the hired assassin sun death ray plot of Golden Gun.

It’s an amusingly odd line, and one that sent me straight to Google to figure out what the hell M was talking about.
