Aside from watching the movies chronologically as I recommended in my last post, I’d argue the other genuinely useful viewing strategy for a James Bond fan is pairing the first two Daniel Craig films together. This naturally happens when watching the series in order, but even for a diehard Bond fan like myself or a casual fan who hasn’t checked out either in a while, watching Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace back-to-back makes for a great convincing double feature.
This is because, of course, Quantum of Solace is the only Bond movie that picks up directly where its predecessor ends, with a captured Mr. White in the trunk of Bond’s Aston Martin. That immediate continuation makes the two movies a rarity, in that it feel less like separate adventures and more like two chapters of the same story.
The running time helps, too, because Quantum Of Solace is the shortest Bond movie at just 1 hour and 46 minutes. Put together, the double feature runs 4 hours and 10 minutes, which is hardly an unreasonable commitment for a James Bond fan. This two movie combo in the same sitting is something I often revisit as a Bond fan!
