He’s had enough. Run a tab.

Let’s not forget that James Bond had a proper barfight in Licence to Kill at the Bimini Barrelhead Bar. It’s not exactly the kind of elegant mission where Bond calmly orders a martini and outsmarts everyone in the room. Instead, Bond sticks out like a sore thumb with his button-up collared shirt and his British accent. Yet despite being in unfamiliar territory, he still holds his own when things get rough alongside Pam Bouvier.

It’s also worth mentioning that a shaken not stirred martini wasn’t on the menu and Bond agrees to a Budweiser with a lime of all drinks. Talk about fish out of water!

Is James Bond out of touch? The above snobby remark from Lazenby’s 007 in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service would suggest so. That refined, worldly side of Bond has always been part of his appeal, even if it has shifted depending on the era. Overall, I think Bond’s refinement has certainly waned. A reboot probably…
