Aki shows of her naivety in You Only Live Twice a few times, but none more blatant than this line after Bond escapes the airplane wrath of Helga Brandt. Tiger Tanaka calls out Bond for his perilous penchant of “chasing girls,” right in front of Aki, who happily assumes her future husband is far more loyal than the truth. Meanwhile, Bond doesn’t even want to broach the subject, only saying “Oh, heaven forbid.” when directly asked about the prospect of him pursuing SPECTRE’s Number 11 Helga Brandt.
It’s obviously poor form by Tanaka and really against bro code to call out Bond as “chasing girls” in front of his future arranged marriage wife. And really, the whole “Bond integrating in Japan” plotline of You Only Live Twice obviously wasn’t the best look for the character. There are several scenes with Tanaka and Japanese cultural references where the writing dances around the awkwardness and attempts to make “Bond-san” actually work, eye-rolling prosthetic eye work and all. Blegh!
