Skyfall lost me a little bit when Bond and M head, well, to Skyfall in the Aston Martin DB5. The nostalgia factor was off the charts both for the shiny DB5 and the insistent (which I love) Monty Norman James Bond theme that plays. However, the toying with the ejector seat that elicited this quote from M was a little forced, if not coy. The last quarter of the movie is its weakest in my opinion.

This is quite the Scaramanga quote from The Man With The Golden Gun. Although rightfully egotistical, Scaramanga was a bit rushed in his thinking (overwhelmed with Bond’s presence?) and almost stammered in his conversation with Bond when he first visits his island. This scene is a prime example of the quintessential James Bond villain trope…
