Alright, we obviously already know the awesomeness of “Live And Let Die,” performed by Paul McCartney and Wings. However, I’m getting a little semantic here, because I seem to have a minor internal dispute over exactly who gets the official artist credit. In the movie itself, the Live And Let Die title card credits the song as “Performed by Paul McCartney and Wings,” while McCartney’s official website lists the artist simply as Wings. Meanwhile, in my mind I’ve always casually considered just Paul McCartney to be the artist behind the Bond theme, which makes this surprisingly complicated for such a simple credit.
So have you known the theme artist for Live And Let Die to be Paul McCartney and Wings, Wings, or simply Paul McCartney? I suppose this is one of those wonderfully trivial Bond debates where the answer depends on whether you’re watching the movie, checking the official credits, or browsing McCartney’s discography, and in the end it really doesn’t matter.
But regardless, it’s the little details like this that keep me coming back to Bond, because apparently even the theme song credits are sometimes worthy of investigation.
