So the Jack Lowden rumors as the next Bond will inevitably bring his appearance into the conversation, particularly that unmistakable red hair. I can already hear the incessant whining about it, much like the tiresome “blonde Bond” debate that followed Daniel Craig’s casting. In Lowden’s case as well, his Scottish nationality would make for some interesting callbacks to Sean Connery’s Bond, but it’s likely Lowden’s ginger hair would generate far more headlines than his nationality.
At 6’1″, Lowden is hardly an imposing physical presence, but that could make for a more grounded interpretation than, say, a towering 6’5″ Jacob Elordi. And let’s be honest, Lowden doesn’t exactly have the polished looks of a traditional male model, but I’d argue that isn’t necessarily a dealbreaker. Bond should still have charisma and good looks, but Lowden’s more approachable appearance could make him feel more believable and less like an overly polished aristocrat.
Ultimately, I think Lowden’s unconventional appearance could be less of a liability than some fans might assume, particularly if the goal is to make Bond feel like an unassuming yet effective secret agent along the same lines as Daniel Craig.
