Over the past few years, I’ve noticed more articles comparing new movies and streaming series to James Bond, usually as a way to catch the attention of 007 fans. Sometimes the comparison feels earned, and other times it seems like Bond’s name is simply doing the heavy lifting. I’ve seen this in articles regarding Netflix’s Black Doves and Bodyguard, Amazon Prime’s Jack Ryan character and many Guy Ritchie entries like In the Grey and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.

That got me wondering whether Amazon MGM could eventually test the waters with an actual crossover featuring James Bond and another one of its established spy characters. If the idea ever escaped the brainstorming room, Jack Ryan feels like the obvious candidate simply because he already lives under the same corporate roof.

I can’t imagine Bond sharing equal billing with another hero and I personally would be against it, but I could picture Ryan slipping into a Felix Leiter type of supporting role for a single adventure. It’d certainly be an interesting experiment that I wouldn’t dismiss as the Amazonification of James Bond continues.
