I usually avoid going too far down the James Bond “what if” rabbit hole, but this is one scenario that’s hard to ignore. If Tracy had survived the ending of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Bond being married for another movie or two would have created a fascinating new dynamic. Although as I’ve said in previous posts, I still don’t think a domesticated Bond would have been sustainable for very long.

Would he have retired from MI6, or would Tracy have become another target for his enemies? Bond the divorcee? As heartbreaking as it is for Tracy, ending the marriage immediately was critical in continuing the character’s future direction as a larger-than-life secret agent.
