Could James Bond ever be a stoner?

James Bond has never exactly been a picture of perfect health, with his long history of alcohol consumption and the Craig era’s inclusion of prescription medication (abuse?). So is it really impossible that a future version of 007 could have marijuana as another personal vice? It might even provide an interesting contrast, giving a younger Bond a different way to manage stress and anxiety.

The challenge would be avoiding the easy stereotypes that come along with it and low-hanging stoner humor that would make it seem more like a gimmick (like “license to chill” or “Sativa or indica, Mr. Bond?” “Hybrid, always hybrid.”). Handled carefully, it could fit seamlessly into Bond’s character and adding an interesting modern layer to the character.
