In For Your Eyes Only, Bond and Q’s meeting inside a Greek church under the guise of sinner and priest delivers one of my favorite Q lines.

When Bond begins the conversation with the traditional “Forgive me father, for I have sinned,” Q’s response wastes no time, as he drops the act and removes his beard to get straight to business. This is peak Bond/Q interaction that has been lost in modern Bond.

Technology and encrypted cellphones have made these types of field meetings unnecessary, but there’s something charming about agents having to rely on clever disguises and discreet encounters to exchange information. Removing technology in a potential period piece reboot would clear up so much space for more of these golden interactions!
