This is quite the endorsement from George Clooney, though perhaps not a surprising one. Callum Turner has been heavily linked to Bond, and Clooney clearly enjoyed working with him enough to put his name forward.
That said, the more Turner’s profile rises and the rumors persist, the less convinced I become. Setting aside his acting ability, I simply do not see Turner as having the striking look that a newly rebooted James Bond requires. He’s undoubtedly handsome, and with Dua Lipa as a wife he’s no slouch, but Bond needs a fresher face that instantly commands attention.
At 36, Turner is not old by any means, but he’s not especially young either. Given the pace at which this reboot is moving, I’d rather see the producers cast someone in their late twenties and build the next era around them with a longer runway for more future movies.
