I’ve purchased every Bond movie at least five times in different formats since becoming a fan in the mid-’90s in the Brosnan era. What started with an unforgettable Christmas gift of the complete VHS collection has evolved over the years into DVDs, Ultimate Edition DVDs, Blu-rays, and now digital copies on YouTube.

In my defense, each new format felt like a perfectly reasonable upgrade. Also, I never went down the rabbit hole of actor-specific box sets or steelbooks, so by Bond movie collector standards, I’d argue I’ve shown admirable restraint. I have to admit that my favorite format is my current most-used format, the purchased YouTube videos (which I got for an awesome deal one year where they had a promo for all of them for $100). Obviously there a lot less showy and lacking any physical medium, but there’s nothing better and easier than quickly opening a Bond movie on the YouTube app to reference a quote or refresh my memory of a scene. Awesome!
