Thunderball (1965)

There’s something camouflaged down there

While Rik Van Nutter’s Felix Leiter in Thunderball is often overshadowed by other actors who played the role, his collaboration with Bond in searching for the missing Vulcan deserves some kudos. Although he’s skeptical of Bond’s inquisition into the Golden Grotto dive site, Leiter deserves credit for piloting the amphibious helicopter there and for his marksmanship in his shark kill to distract the other sharks so Bond can investigate underwater.

Bond’s above line to start the scene is simple, but it marks a pivotal moment in the story. In just a few words, the mystery shifts from searching for a missing aircraft to confronting the far more alarming reality that its nuclear payload has vanished.

But more importantly, back to the shark: I mean it’s impressive. He killed it with one shot!
