Here it is, everyone: the worst headline to emerge from the release of the 007 First Light video game.
This atrocious (partial) headline from ScreenRant‘s Angharad Redden is not only clickbait, it’s flatly inaccurate. Daniel Craig has not been “officially replaced,” and voicing or providing a likeness for James Bond in a video game isn’t remotely the same thing as succeeding Craig in the movie series. For that matter, how exactly would “James Bond” replace Daniel Craig?
As for Patrick Gibson, I remain unconvinced by the game’s interpretation of his likeness and I think that his digital counterpart’s resemblance looks inconsistent at best and completely foreign at worst. It’s a painful reminder that many modern video games chase photorealism only to land somewhere in the uncanny valley.
I realize this is a painfully pedantic complaint, but unfortunately the headline earned it.
