This recent Rolling Stone James Bond article by Christopher Cruz, complete with that headline, made me wince. To quote the Bond-adjacent Dr. Evil from Goldmember: “HOW ‘BOUT NO?!”
James Bond video games always generate excitement because they fill a gap the movies cannot. For movie fans, that’s less a cause for celebration than a reminder of what’s missing. In this case, the article seems so eager to champion gaming that it overlooks a simple fact: every version of Bond in modern media owes its existence to the movies.
And pinning the franchise’s future on a medium that hasn’t produced a new Bond game since 2012’s 007 Legends feels like a risky bet. Team Bond Movies for life.
