Spectre (2015)

Bond’s five shot glass Spectre logo

The five bullet hole bulletproof glass Spectre octopus logo perfectly encapsulates the mixed bag of a movie. Clever in theory, but in the end it tries too hard and misses the forest for the trees. Between the Bond/Blofeld boyhood brotherhood connection retcon and the sequence just prior to this scene with puzzling headshot printouts, it’s impossible to ignore how hard the movie strains to tie everything together and overcomplicates it in the process.

Aside from the Spectre logo nod itself, Bond’s futile attempt at shooting through bulletproof glass also feels like an accidental metaphor for the movie. The problem was never Bond’s aim. He just never had a shot.

Mind you, this comes from one of the few that enjoyed Spectre more than Skyfall.
