The GoldenEye marketing line is genius because it did a lot with very little. It introduced a new Bond in Pierce Brosnan without overselling the change, and reaffirmed that the audience knows James Bond, 007’s identity. For certain, it was a clever way to introduce a new actor as a well-known character and implicitly introduces Craig’s Bond in the same manner in the title of the theme of Casino Royale, “You Know My Name.”
That kind of approach would fit Bond 26 nicely, both as a nostalgia-inducing throwback and as a simple, slightly playful tagline that nods to continuity and casually acknowledges a new face in the role. It’s confident, yet cryptic and subtly avoids a heavy focus on the recasting. Perfect!
