A.S.K.D.P. – why aren’t they talked about more?

Another Skyfall Komodo Dragons Post and a fair question: why isn’t this moment discussed more among Bond fans? Of all the directions a Macau casino scene could take, Skyfall chose to feature Komodo dragons as key participants. Not just a casino with a hazy ambiance or spectacular views. Friggin’ reptiles are involved, and not docile ones either. One makes a meal of a henchman, while Bond casually treats another like a stepping stone in a surreal nod to Live and Let Die‘s crocodile hopping scene. This is the peak of camp in any of Daniel Craig’s Bond movies.

Here’s to the Komodo dragons of Skyfall: the unexpected scene stealers no one saw coming!

And no it wasn’t tragic because of some emotional connection. It’s tragic because Kananga’s character deserved a more dignified and realistic death than what was given to him: a gadget-induced cartoonish balloon blowup. Who approved of Kananga’s fate? Likely the same guy who decided to add a slide whistle into car barrel roll stunt earlier…

It may not always be my opinion, but his longevity no doubt added to his importance.  After watching all of his movies in succession, I always feel like it was the best run as Bond!  He owned the 70s and 80s!
