No continuity in Bond 27, please!

Ok so I know I’m getting ahead of myself, but I already hope Bond 27 avoids the temptation of another sprawling interconnected storyline. By all means, keep the new Bond actor and the supporting MI6 regulars around, but let the actual plot stand on its own. One of the great strengths of classic James Bond is the sense that each adventure feels fresh and self contained. As much as I enjoyed Casino Royale and much of Daniel Craig’s era, the long running threads involving Spectre, Ernst Stavro Blofeld and Madeleine Swann eventually overstayed their welcomes.

Here’s to an autonomous Bond 27!
