How Young *should* Amazon Make James Bond?

A recently similarly-titled article by Variety poses a great question as to the next James Bond actor rather than who it will actually be. Obviously, Amazon has to consider a myriad of factors when choosing the next actor, namely their acting chops (of course), their look (duh) and their longevity. If they want to bank on an actor for the next 15 or so years and 5 or so Bond movies, that actor has to be in his twenties right now, and on the lower end of his twenties.

It will be interesting to see if they roll the dice on such a young star, and commit to an actor for such a long tenure. But it also makes me wonder if they’ll pull a fast one on us and all of the speculation was for naught. Will they go against the media buzz and simply hire a mid thirties actor who does a quick four movies? In my opinion, there are obviously risks, but a twenty-something Bond would be an invigorating prospect for big James Bond fans like myself and for the franchise, with one most important remaining lingering question: how sure are they that the general viewing public is ready for a fresh-faced James Bond?
