If Bond 26 is a reboot we’re safe, but if it’s a modern take on James Bond up against a current threat to the world, it’s possible that artificial intelligence (AI) could be a focus of the movie. I’d urge everyone involved in the project to reconsider if this was the case, because currently there’s a certain stigma and hatred of AI that would turn off a large audience bloc with such a plot. That’s not to say there isn’t some potential plotline for 007 in the AI world in the future, I just think it at this moment, it would be overkill and not compelling.
Bond 26 needs to be simple: an assassination, a drug cartel, even a misinformation campaign would be a more worthwhile topic. Artificial intelligence is just too abstract (and frankly boring, speaking for myself as someone with an advanced computer science degree) for a James Bond movie!
