Especially the infamous “best Bond movie” ranking with Goldfinger near the top, Die Another Day near the bottom, and a few spicy “hot takes” in between. Sure, it’s a fun activity if you haven’t thought of them a thousand times and it passes the time waiting for Bond 26 news, but I’d rather focus on autonomous movie moments to keep Bond at the forefront.
Do I really need to hear another ranking of “best Bond girl” or “coolest gadget”? I’d rather hear someone’s reasoning behind a favorite scene or villain than a “top” or “best” list. Why flatten the enduring and complex Bond universe into a stack ranking of worthiness? I’m obviously overthinking this, but that’s what I do. Never say never (again?), but if I do any more rankings or lists it’s like I won’t like making them.
