While recent reports suggest Denis Villeneuve may return to Ian Fleming for inspiration on Bond 26, there remains a possibility he leans into the science fiction sensibilities he explored in Dune. That direction could echo the more fantastical tone of Moonraker, a creative risk that would obviously demand careful execution to avoid tarnishing the character and offending fans.
But out-of-this-world plotlines aside, one area where I could see such a shift succeed would be its theme. A modern electronic dance track, anchored by a strong vocal performance but driven by a sophisticated dance backbone, would be a bold choice, but not an unfamiliar one. The series flirted with this energy before through David Arnold’s contributions over the years, including my favorite, his awesome work on Tomorrow Never Dies.
So maybe a return of David Arnold is in order? Or why not someone so epic in the genre like Daft Punk, who could time their return and reunification perfectly with work on Bond 26?
