In Live and Let Die, Kananga’s quiz for Solitaire reveals far more about his character than the question itself. Asking her to confirm the registration number on the back of Bond’s watch, 3266, is trivial, but it reflects his obsessive need for control. The test is less about verifying her psychic ability and more about reinforcing his authority when even the slightest uncertainty appears.

This moment also mirrors the broader cruelty in his relationship with Solitaire, which borders on human trafficking. Kananga treats her less like an ally and more like a tool or simply property, since he “uses” her abilities to fuel his criminal empire. It’s a unique dynamic that positively contributes to Moore’s first outing as James Bond, and adds to the aura of Live And Let Die which hasn’t been replicated since.
