In Diamonds Are Forever, James Bond delivers one of the series’ more gross wordplays when explaining to covert CIA agent Felix Leiter where smuggled diamonds are concealed inside a corpse. The line cleverly riffs on Sherlock Holmes’ famous line “Elementary, my dear Watson,” replacing an intellectual phrase with an anatomical reference to the alimentary system (digestive tract) in a way that showcases Connery’s dark humor and unmistakable wit.
I don’t even want to think how they managed to get the diamonds ready for transport. Yuck!
