While I keep this site firmly centered on the James Bond movies, I’m well aware there’s a 007 universe beyond cinema. This includes post-Fleming stories as well as the latest 007 video games. Personally, none of it quite scratches my itch like a James Bond movie. Maybe it’s my age, maybe it’s taste, but nothing compares to the thrill of seeing a new Bond movie unfold on the big screen.
Sure, modern Bond video games can offer flashy missions and clever nods to the movies, but without a true movie tie-in, they feel less like canon and more like well-funded fan fiction looking to mooch off the 007 brand. That’s why I stick to the movies and I don’t reference much in the way of Bond novels, spin-offs, TV experiments or video games. Call me a purist if you like, but I prefer my Bond shaken, not stirred, and projected on the big screen (preferably in IMAX).
