The Man With The Golden Gun (1974)

Ohhh, a surprise! Hehehe

This unexpectedly comical line in The Man with the Golden Gun is gleefully stated by a hotel worker in The Man With The Golden Gun. As Bond approaches Andrea Anders’ hotel room number 602, an overly enthusiastic hotel employee insists on helping with the delivery of the champagne in Bond’s possession. He ultimately unlocks the door for Bond, laughing with almost childlike delight at the notion of Bond’s insistence of his champagne delivery as a “surprise” and that the worker need not assist. The worker’s inflection is so bubbly that it briefly undercuts the tension of the scene.

The moment amusingly echoes Bond’s earlier hotel worker/room exploit in Goldfinger, though this time the accomplice is not a reluctant woman but a positively jolly man. Hilarious delivery!
