Well, I won’t need these

Bond’s throwaway line in You Only Live Twice is a wry nod to oysters’ supposed aphrodisiac qualities after he realizes Kissy Suzuki has no intention of maintaining their honeymoon “appearances.” The joke lands lightly, but it leans on an overblown myth. Regardless, we all know that oysters were never going to meaningfully affect James Bond’s libido or performance.

It’s likely a private bit of humor for Bond himself, perhaps lost on Kissy altogether, though the real tragedy may simply be the needless waste of perfectly good oysters.
