The final line of A View To A Kill is a throwaway quip from Q explaining to M how Bond was found alive. The joke is meant to play off the fact that Q interrupts Bond and Stacey Sutton mid shower, with I guess Bond “cleaning” Stacey (?), but the wordplay is soft and generic. Even by Bond standards, it feels oddly toothless and ends the movie with a dud. The line also dates the film, sinceit’s hard to imagine a modern Bond movie ending on such a mild gag, especially given how much more serious the character has since become.

A better alternative would’ve leaned more directly into the moment. For instance, having Q report that Bond was “attending to his personal hygiene” would make his wordplay more precise and ultimately funnier. It also would’ve reinforced the visual joke and gave the film a stronger final note. Oh well!
