Thunderball gives us a bizarre glimpse into a 1960s health spa, and Bond’s experience there is anything but relaxing. While Patricia Fearing’s mink mitt massage might have some appeal, the stretch rack and sweat box resemble torture devices rather than wellness devices.
After enduring the painful treatment and entrapment on the rack, Bond’s payback against the perpetrator with the above quip and the locked sweat box reminds us that revenge is a dish best served…steamed? To be honest I don’t really understand Bond’s chef reference here, but I guess he could be referencing a chef preparing steamed vegetables? Who am I kidding, this quip misses the mark.
