A small part of me wants to see the next James Bond actor be even more unknown than any of the current rumored contenders for the role. There have been Bond actors in the past who were barely household names before taking the role, so it’s encouraging that some of the names being discussed aren’t necessarily established stars. But there have to be other actors out there who aren’t on anyone’s radar yet, right?

Could there be a West End performer quietly flying under the tabloids’ and betting markets’ radar who has already delivered a standout audition? Is Amazon MGM currently narrowing down a list of candidates as I type this? It’s fascinating to think about how many actors they might actually be considering and how many could still be complete surprises.
