The latest Variety report confirming Nina Gold as casting director for Bond 26 is a genuinely encouraging development. Coupled with MGM’s official statement that the search for the next James Bond is underway, it offers some long-awaited reassurance. Still, it remains to be seen how long that reassurance will sustain my patience.
The studio’s decision to remain silent on specifics is understandable, but also feels like a missed opportunity. No other movie franchise or character commands this level of global intrigue during a recasting process. Why not lean into it? A carefully managed trickle (say, monthly?) of updates would energize the current fanbase and gain new ones.
