Boris Grishenko from GoldenEye is arguably the nerdiest character of any James Bond movie. He’s a brilliant but socially awkward computer prodigy, with round, oversized glasses, and is defined by exaggerated mannerisms that swing wildly between smug confidence and panicked hysteria.
The only other character who comes close to Boris on the nerd scale, in my view, is Ben Whishaw’s Q, though he ultimately falls well short of Boris’s level. Q represents a quieter, more restrained brand of nerdiness that is highly capable and emotionally well-adjusted, perhaps thanks in part to the calming influence of his cats at home. Meanwhile, Boris’ chaotic energy makes you question his reliability and overall has a more negative connotation.
In a world of nerds, Whishaw’s Q feels like the professional you’d trust with MI6’s systems, while Boris feels like the guy who might crash them and brag about it. Boris’ eccentricities like his pen spinning and arrogant attitude put him over the top as the ultimate Bond movie nerd.
