Charli XCX has publicly ruled herself out of contributing a theme song for Bond 26, effectively removing her name from consideration before any official discussion appeared to take place. While she has dabbled in soundtrack work in recent years, including Wuthering Heights, her pop-forward sensibility feels misaligned with what the James Bond franchise needs at this moment.

As the series enters a new era, it’s not the time to chase contemporary chart appeal. Bond themes work best when they carry a sense of gravitas and tradition. The franchise would be far better served by an established, seasoned artist with a timeless presence and a proven ability to deliver.
