Most curious product placement? Tabasco hot sauce

Few instances of product placement in the Bond series are as oddly memorable as Tabasco hot sauce. It appears in both The Man with the Golden Gun and The Spy Who Loved Me, each time in the hands of the movie’s villain. Nick Nack dutifully presents it at Scaramanga’s request, while Stromberg casually seasons his oysters with it during a quiet meal.

That deliberateness is what makes the placement so curious: are we meant to believe that two unrelated Bond villains independently share the same preferred hot sauce, or that Tabasco carries some unspoken endorsement of cinematic megalomania? The films never offer an explanation, and none is really necessary. The repetition feels less like overt advertising and more like an inside joke or a practical on-set choice that slipped into Bond lore. Whatever the reason, it remains as a unique, delightfully strange trivia nugget.
