This awful quote cropped up from Kevin O’Leary of all people in discussions surrounding his acting and want to become a Bond villain. In short: how about no. I haven’t seen Marty Supreme yet, but there is no amount of amazing acting that could get me to want to see this Shark Tank tool in a Bond movie or hear his (stupid) opinion on having James Bond as a woman.
His remarks read less as a thoughtful contribution and more as a calculated attempt to generate headlines, a tactic that has unfortunately proven effective. The suggestion of recasting James Bond as a woman, especially when offered so casually and by someone with no creative stake in the series, feels dismissive of the character’s long-established identity rather than productively reimagining it.
There’s no shortage of compelling ways to evolve Bond while respecting the core of what the character represents, and neither O’Leary’s involvement as a villain nor his opinion on redefining Bond meaningfully advances that goal. Hopefully, Bond 26 and future entries will remain guided by creative voices with a deeper understanding of, and respect for, the franchise’s legacy.
