The Man With The Golden Gun (1974)

I sure am, boy!

I’m not sure there’s another James Bond actor either past, present, or future who could deliver humor with the effortless charm of Roger Moore.  Case in point: the car chase scene in The Man with the Golden Gun, with Bond at the wheel and Clifton James’s Sheriff J.W. Pepper riding shotgun. Pepper’s gloriously over-the-top Southern drawl not only adds comedic flavor, it steals the show when Bond does his best impression with the above quote.

There’s truly something special about Bond and Pepper’s gloriously mismatched, odd-couple relationship and it’s hard to imagine any future Bond film recapturing this dynamic.

This might be the most spectacularly ill-advised idea I’ve encountered in the Bond universe in quite some time.  A potential Jinx spin-off from Die Another Day is the only thing that comes close in sheer absurdity.  Honestly, what were they thinking?  This isn’t thoughtful censorship, it’s censorship for sport.  Boo!
